Jasmine

Before it slips between our fingers
come feel it all at once
Take the trash out before it stinks
Smell the Jasmine
blooming in the street
Let the children run free
lift them up to learn the scent
to reach and hold what flowers
g e n t l y 

Slow down to meet your mother's gait
she's not as old as she appears but
not as young as she thinks

And if you should hear a violin 
carried on the wind from a balcony 
across the way
s o f t e n 

Is this not true of everything and
everyone?
