Lilac

Oh, keepers of time
the ones that tenderly shuffle it
to and fro

Memories of hearts and bones and
bloodlines
that go hazy for a while
but then
that lilac tree alone in a field 

An echo (a reverberation?) 
of the one planted by my
great-grandmother

Is this how black & white photographs bloom color?
Does time-travel have a scent?

The aching crescendo 
of all fleeting moments
right here and now
